Moving on up

Well folks we have made it to 25 weeks. This is a small relief because we have officially passed the week of viability for our little angels. We definitely have some busy little babies. They are moving like crazy which can drive me nuts sometimes, but is a constant reassurance that we are all alive and well.

I had another appointment yesterday. This was sort of a stressful appointment for me. Three weeks ago we discovered that Twin B was suffering from an unequal share of flow from the placenta. This is resulting in some deficient growth, and when it was initially discovered the deficiency was 18%. Three weeks later little B is at a 30% difference. Twin A is at approximately 1 lb 11 oz and B is at approximately 1 lb 3 oz. With this large of a difference they want to keep a little closer watch on our little one. We knew all along I would be relocating eventually and now the time has come. 34 weeks was our initial target date, but that is now out of reach. We are crossing fingers and saying prayers that little B will keep on growing and stay strong as long as possible.

Blood flow through cords still looks good and cords are staying minimally entangled. Development is also on track and we can still see B's bladder and kidneys (a good thing when there is a transfusion problem).

So this is au revoir  to home for now and hello to Billings for what I hope is at least seven more weeks of good growth.

On a lighter note we did find out just before Christmas that we are having little girls and we couldn't be happier.

Hawaii 2011 (week one)

I am finally getting through all the pictures I have recently taken off my camera, and realized I haven't shared our exciting vacation with you all!

Sam and I never took a honeymoon. Getting married just before spring semester, with me still in nursing school did not leave a lot of buffer time between our wedding (on Saturday) and me going back to clinicals (on Monday)....

For us a vacation was long over due since we will be married two years this month! Time sure flies.

I have been to Hawaii before, but Sam has never gone. This seemed like the prime opportunity to go somewhere a little exotic before our little bundles of joy make an entrance. Sam's brother Dan lives on Oahu, and we do not get to see him and his wife often so it just made sense that we would vacation in their neck of the... um... tropics.

We flew out December 10 and stayed through Dec 23. What a lovely break from reality, and what a lovely gift from Dan and Raia to let us crash at their place!

I wanted to share some of my favorite memories and places with you. I hope it will bring a little sunshine to you in this wintery weather!

We arrived on a Sat. night and the following Monday the fun began. A trip to the Dole Pineapple Plantation was silly, educational, and very tasty.

Of course the beach was a must, and we lucked out to be staying literally across the street from Hukilau beach. This soon became a frequent stop for surf, sand, and a little boogie boarding.

A little tid-bit... if you have ever heard the hula song about the Hukilau, it was written about this beach.

One of my favorite things to do is snorkel. We did this a few times and sadly the only pictures even related to snorkeling were from Hanauma Bay, a marine life conservation area 10 miles from Waikki. It was a beautiful little cove, however; the tide was really low that day so it made for some shallow swimming. Not very easy for two pregnant women!

I have a thing for light houses. This was a great "little" hike up to a very beautiful view. We tried to watch for whales since this is the time of year they migrate to the area, but no such luck.

We were able to take time and do a session at the Temple, which was in walking distance from where Dan and Raia live

When you have the right connections you get the special treatment. Dan has several buddies in the military, one of which got his Captain's license literally that day so we could all make a trip out in Kaneohe Bay. We rented a boat from the Marine base and skipped on over to a sandbar!! Once in a lifetime fun for Wyomingites like us.

Babies, babies, babies...

The appointment went well on Wednesday. The cord tangling is lessened and there are good heart beats. No official news for when I will need to relocate, but when I go back in two weeks we will know more.

I finally got my scanner up and running, so i thought i would share some of the more current ultrasounds.

Update Week 21

I cannot believe 21 weeks has gone by so quickly and we are getting so close to meeting our little miracles. Since my last post I have had several ultrasounds, and it is so amazing to watch our little ones grow and develop.

 At 17 weeks I started to feel little baby flutters as they got big enough to feel movement. So far every doctors visit has been positive. Growth is on track, there has not been any new extreme cord tangling. I am only working 8 hour shifts now, and trying not to do anything to strenuous, but everything seems to be going great. I am at 21 weeks and 4 days now, and just last week the little baby flutters turned into kicks. I am loving the new movement and it makes the whole experience so much more real.

On Wednesday we are back to the doctor for another update and ultrasound and find out how soon I will have to relocate to billings for more monitoring.

I am so grateful for all the prayers,  thoughts, and support we are receiving.
